A Christmas Pudding, December 2001

Dear Shelly,
I've just returned from out of town not having a chance to tell you about Christmas. The girls/women were terrific, able to adapt, improvise, and they worked perfectly for a kind of party climax for the show. And very different from what people expected, I think. All three venues really responded to them. And, of course, the piper. What are dancers without a piper. Perhaps we can add a fiddle next year...or anything else you might suggest. Again, my deepest thanks for all your help. I hope they had a good time, as well. Let me know how and where you are.
Best always,
David Birney

Dear Shelly, Krista, and the Everything Celtic Dance Troop + Bagpiper:
Thank you so much for the performance at the 17th Annual Children's Festival of the Arts. One of the most memorable moments of the day was near the end, when families were heading home, the crowds were fading away, your performance had ended, yet there was a group of little girls so influenced by you performance that they all felt the urge to dance around the fountain, each trying to look like the talented Celtic dancers they just saw. Your presence was truly a contribution to the fun and festivities of the day.
We would have considered the day a success if we had made a difference in the life of just one child, and we clearly accomplished more than that. The workshops were packed with children creating; the diverse performances were well attended by rapt, smiling audiences. The weather was beautiful and the grassy Paramount courtyard was dotted with bright, fat balloons held by giggling children with colorfully painted faces. Families came and stayed all day!
You have helped make this day a success. It is with your partnership that we have reached out and made a difference in our community, one child at a time, through the arts.

Sincerely,
